A lighting-control system succeeds when nobody notices it – only the light. That is why AVC treats keypad selection and placement as interior-design decisions, made with the architect and interior designer rather than left to site convenience.
Lutron's keypad collections give that conversation real material to work with: Alisse, machined from solid brass and hand-finished in ten finishes, with custom-engraved button text; Palladiom in metal, glass and polymer, with backlit engraved buttons; slim Architrave for narrow reveals and joinery; and wire-free Pico controls where flexibility matters. We help select the collection and finish that sit correctly against plaster, panelling, marble and wallpaper; we position controls where hands naturally fall, aligned with door architraves and artwork; and we consolidate functions so each wall carries one refined control instead of a row of afterthoughts.
Scenes are named and programmed around how the household actually lives – and because everything is coordinated on drawings before first fix, joinery, bedside details and furniture layouts keep their integrity from concept to completion.

A scene is one action that sets many things: individual circuits to considered levels and, where the design includes them, blinds and curtains to matching positions. Programmed well, scenes disappear into daily life:

Lutron manufactures its own automated blinds and curtain tracks – from the Palladiom collection, with hardware milled from solid aluminium or brass, to Sivoia QS wired blinds, battery-powered wire-free options and motorised tracks for pinch-pleat and S-Fold curtains – all engineered to work as one system with the lighting. The drives are engineered for quiet operation – Lutron rates its Sivoia QS roller 64 drive at no more than 35 dBA measured one metre away – and multiple blinds move in unison, holding alignment within 3 mm. For a prime residence the case is practical as much as aesthetic:
- Privacy at a touch, or on a schedule, without walking the house
- Comfort and glare control as the sun moves through the day
- Daylight used deliberately – part of the lighting design, not a rival to it

Shading is decided early: recesses, pockets, power and control wiring all belong in the architectural drawings. It is one more reason the conversation should start at design stage.

One coherent home
Integration with the wider home
Lighting rarely travels alone on our projects. As a residential technology and MEP integrator, AVC designs Lutron alongside – and integrated with – the rest of the home's systems: multiroom audio, television and cinema, heating and cooling, security and automated shading, under one coordinated control philosophy.

Why professional design matters
Lutron equipment is superb, but equipment alone does not produce a refined result – any more than fine stone produces architecture. The finished experience depends on early planning, correct system selection, thoughtful keypad placement, accurate electrical coordination, proper panel and equipment design, professional installation and scenes set with care, in the room, with the people who will live there.
It also depends on coordination with everything else in the walls. AVC designs lighting control as one of the building's engineered services – aligned with the electrical design, the shading, the AV and the network – so the system is not an accessory added late but part of the fabric, planned before electrical first fix, when every option is still open and nothing has to be undone.

When should Lutron planning begin?+
During design – ideally while the architectural, interior, electrical and lighting plans are still being developed. Lighting control shapes circuit design, keypad positions, wiring routes and equipment space, so early decisions are cheap and late ones are disruptive.
Should AVC become involved before electrical first fix?+
Yes. First fix is the point of no return for wiring. If AVC is involved beforehand, the electrical design, panel locations, keypad back boxes and shading provisions are coordinated on the drawings before walls close rather than corrected afterwards, and the finished walls carry only what the interior design intends.
Is Lutron suitable for new apartments, penthouses and townhouses?+
Yes. The same platform scales from a lateral apartment to a townhouse over six floors or a large detached residence. The system architecture, keypad selection and equipment strategy are tailored to each property type – that tailoring is precisely the design work AVC provides.
Can Lutron control blinds and curtains?+
Yes. Lutron manufactures its own automated shading – blinds and curtain tracks engineered from the beginning to work natively with its control systems. Blinds can join lighting scenes, adjust automatically through the day and be operated from the same keypads and app.
Can Lutron integrate with a wider smart-home system?+
Yes. On many of our projects Lutron runs lighting and shading while a platform such as Crestron coordinates audio, video, climate and security, with both presented to the client as one coherent system. Integration scope always depends on the specific products and project design, which is agreed during specification.
Can keypad finishes complement the interior design?+
Yes – this is one of Lutron's great strengths. Keypad collections offer a wide choice of finishes and materials, with engraved button text, so controls are selected with the interior designer like ironmongery rather than accepted as standard white plastic.
Can a lighting-control system reduce the number of switches?+
Dramatically. One considered keypad by the door replaces the bank of switches and dimmers a conventional installation would need, and whole-house functions mean fewer controls overall. Walls stay calm, and the controls that remain are beautiful.
What information does AVC need to prepare a proposal?+
Whatever exists: architectural plans, electrical or lighting drawings, interior-design information, the project programme and any current specification. Early-stage projects without complete drawings are welcome – we help define the brief.
How much does a Lutron system cost?+
